Angie shares that, “Kemetic Yoga was developed through decades of research, study and translation of Ancient Egyptian (Kemetic) hieroglyphs and texts…. It's unique emphasis on spiritual rather than physical development sets it apart from Westernized styles of yoga and brings it back to the origins.

The goal of this practice is to move slow and intentionally, with heavy attention to the rhythm of breath, spinal alignment and sequencing.”

Stuff comes up in the silence. Dumb stuff. Like realizing it’s been over a month since you’ve had a car wash. Or remembering you need to pick up dry cleaning, or clip that dang hang nail. And then we feel bad that we kinda suck at meditation. And because we don’t want to feel bad, we may quit meditating.

Been there! But man is it worth getting back on that horse. I can confidently say I am a better person when I’m in my meditation practice.

Yoga + Oils: A Moving Meditation

I love connecting with the concept of yoga as a moving meditation. We Westerners aren’t typically raised to develop a meditation practice. More often we avoid meditation either because we struggle to hold a quiet focus, don’t understand what we’re supposed to be “getting” of it, or just plain think that being that still is for the birds.

Annette Bailey points out that, in reality, we’re constantly meditating on “something.” Whether it’s our to-do lists, things we wish we said but didn’t, what we’re going to eat for dinner, or wondering what lives in the back of that junk drawer, we fixate and focus on an assortment of topics throughout our day.

Today’s practice will help move out old energy, to invite in new energy. As we release blocks, we make way for a calmer nervous system, revitalized organs and glands, a calmer mind and eased emotions. We invite more space for a sense of inner harmony and balance, allowing a deeper connection with ourselves and our spiritual nature.
